The Southwark club is located near London Bridge / Bermondsey stations and we welcome adults and children aged 6 years and above.
We regularly run classes specially for new beginners, which are advertised on the homepage and sidebar of this page. Your first two sessions are free, and it’s useful if you can let us know in advance if you’re coming by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Southwark club instructors are Ms Jemima Kingsley, 3rd Dan (far left, below) and Ms Sarah Garrett, 2nd Dan (far right, below). We look forward to meeting you!

After that, choose your monthly subscription:
- Two classes each week: £45 a month
- One class each week: £30 a month
- Southwark and Barbican unlimited: £65 a month
We strongly recommend training twice a week, but if you have other commitments one session a week is possible.
There are also costs for your annual licence, dobok (uniform) and gradings, and these are easiest to explain in person when you come along.
What to expect
We always start with a group warm up and finish with a warm down. We train together, but may split into smaller groups to focus on particular techniques.
We are a friendly club, and know from experience (we were all beginners once!), that it can be daunting walking into a room with strangers in martial arts uniform and some people wearing black belts! We will make every effort to make you feel welcome before the class starts and let you ask any questions you may have, so please pluck up the courage to come in!
What shall I wear?
Any sports clothing is fine to begin. If you decide to join the club we’ll arrange for you to get a dobok (white uniform). Normally people wear tracksuit bottoms or shorts and a t-shirt to their first few sessions. We train in bare feet, and there are changing rooms at our venues.
If you’ve got any other questions, please do get in touch by emailing email@example.com.
Our instructors are all insured and registered with the British Taekwondo Council (BTC) and have been CRB checked and cleared to work with children and vulnerable adults. Every club member, once registered, is fully insured through the BTC.
