We’re very friendly and you are welcome to come along to try out the class without having to commit to it. We regularly run sessions for new beginners, check on the homepage for dates. If you can, please email contact us at email@example.com to let us know you’re coming.
Your first two sessions are free.
- Monthly subscription: £55 per month (£40 for the first three months for beginners)
- Monthly subscription including Southwark classes: £65 a month (£50 for the first three months for beginners)
There are also charges for your licence, dobok (uniform) and gradings but these are easiest to explain in person when you come along.
Tuesdays: Golden Lane Sport and Fitness
The Tuesday evening venue is a short walk from Barbican tube. Coming out of Barbican tube station, turn left, cross to Fann Street and you will find the Shakespeare pub on your left. Once you pass the Shakespeare pub you should veer diagonally left past it and head down the steps that you come to. You will then see the sports centre’s tennis courts at the bottom of the steps. The reception is at the far end of these tennis courts, and the hall we train in is directly to your right of these courts. If you need to get changed, then head to the reception and let them know you are here for taekwondo and they will let you through to the changing rooms. Once changed you should then head back out of the reception to the hall.Golden Lane Sport and Fitness

Q: I’m an adult. Is this for me?
A: Yes! The Barbican club is currently only for adults (sorry, kids!) and it’s never too late to start.
Q: I’m a child. Is this for me?
A: The Barbican club is just for adults. The Southwark club is for both adults and children. Ask a parent to contact Southwark: firstname.lastname@example.org
Q: What shall I wear?
A: Any sports clothing is fine to begin. If you decide to join the club we’ll arrange for you to get a dobok (uniform). Normally people wear tracksuit bottoms or shorts and a t-shirt to their first few sessions. We train in bare feet, so it’s best if your tracksuit bottoms aren’t so long that you might stand on them.
Q: Are there special sessions just for beginners?
A: Yes, we regularly run sessions for new beginners, check on the homepage for information. Beginners classes will be held at our Monday and Tuesday evening venues.
We are a really friendly club, but know from experience (we were all beginners once!), that it can be very daunting walking into a hall with a lot of strangers in martial arts uniform and some people wearing black belts! We will make every effort to make you feel welcome before the class starts and let you ask any questions you may have, so please pluck up the courage to come in!
