Nottingham TTA Summer School 2008

Who would be taekwondo-mad enough to spend six days training full time? Jemima Kingsley, Chris Gilmartin and Simon Smith fit the bill when they attended this year’s Summer School conducted by TTA Chief Instructor Grandmaster Loh 8th Dan.

About 35 people from various TTA clubs around the country met up in Nottingham for the course. The key aim of this year’s course was to develop techniques to aid in free sparring, as well as improving general fitness, speed, strength and agility. There was also a chance to practice the majority of the basic taekwondo syllabus under the instruction of Grandmaster Loh. The course culminated in an afternoon free sparring mini competition, and a grading the following day.

The course requires a general level of fitness, and was tough, but thoroughly rewarding and fun. Everyone came away knowing that their skills had been greatly improved. The course was also a great way to meet other members from the TTA with several socials organised in the evenings.
